Nelson Eguizabal

Vice President - Marine Superintendent

Born in El Salvador, Nelson moved with his family to Louisiana at the age of eight, where he developed a strong connection to the water and the maritime industry. Growing up, he spent much of his free time working alongside his stepfather, a commercial fisherman, an experience that instilled in him the work ethic and practical skills that would shape his career.

Nelson began developing his craft during his senior year of high school, working in a small welding booth before transitioning directly into the shipyard industry after graduation. Over the next two decades, he built extensive experience in marine fabrication, shipbuilding, and vessel repair, advancing from a shipyard helper to foreman and master craftsman. He later expanded his expertise by working as a port engineer, fitter, and welder for a tug company before joining TradeWinds Towing in 2020.

As Vice President of Marine Operations, Nelson oversees vessel maintenance, repair projects, and shipyard activities, ensuring TradeWinds' fleet remains safe, reliable, and ready to perform. His extensive hands-on experience in fabrication and marine repair, combined with his bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish, allows him to effectively lead crews, coordinate contractors, and maintain the high standards expected across the TradeWinds fleet.
